- Wood poles, bark, all provided in designated area
- Container of water
INSTRUCTIONS
This activity is best done in small groups of 6-8. Or divide a larger group in half and then divide the site in half.
Can you create a bush hut?
Decide what kind of hut would suit the environment and the equipment that you have and see what you can create in the time you have. Look at the picture options to help make your decision.
Once you have constructed your new home you may like to give it the ultimate test!
Get everyone inside and one person outside. That person pours a bucket of water over the roof to see if your hut is Rain Proof!
When you have finished the activity please dismantle the construction ready for the next group.
NOTE;
No extra branches, bush or material are to be collected for use other than what is provided within the site boundary.
Please build in designated area only.
SCORING
The driest team wins. 10 points for every team member that remains dry.
SAFETY
Teachers are responsible for supervision.
Supervise the movement of building material. Each stick (building material) requires 2 people to move.
Teacher to Assess the building structure for structural soundness before allowing anyone inside.
Ensure that huts are safely dismantled after each session.
